Misshow: 7x ChatGPT-attributed revenue in its first quarter with Citable

TL;DR: Misshow, a Shopify brand selling wedding, prom and homecoming dresses, worked with Citable from Q3 2026. Citable found which groups of buyers AI answers were sending elsewhere, including one Misshow hadn't served at all, and briefed the content to win them. In Q3, Misshow's ChatGPT-attributed revenue was more than 7x Q2's, and ChatGPT went from 0.8% to 6% of its sales.

"We worked with the Citable team to define who the shoppers on our website are. Together we defined four types of shopper, the questions each one asks when buying formalwear, and the answers we give them. With Citable's guidance, we kept putting our brand's voice into the media that AI widely recognizes. At the end of Q3 2026, we were both delighted to find that our ChatGPT channel had grown 7x. Before we started working together, in Q2, ChatGPT was 0.8% of our sales. In Q3 it reached 6%, a 7x increase. We are confident about continuing to work with the Citable team."

The brand

Misshow was founded in 2012 by Annabelle and Richard, and sells wedding, bridesmaid, prom and homecoming dresses on Shopify, direct to its customers. Every dress is made to order, in standard sizes from US0 to US26W or tailored to the buyer's exact measurements, and on some styles will match the mesh to the wearer's skin tone. Misshow says working directly with its manufacturers keeps prices accessible. Misshow says it has served over 1 million customers, and its store shows a 4.91★ rating from more than 52,000 verified reviews.

These are considered purchases: shoppers compare styles, fit, fabric and delivery dates before they buy. Custom fit, inclusive sizing and a deep review record are exactly the kind of strengths a shopper needs to find in an answer.

The challenge

Q3 is Misshow's slow season. It needed growth that wouldn't raise the cost of winning each customer, and AI assistants were a channel it barely reached: in Q2, ChatGPT brought in 0.8% of its sales.

What Citable did

1. Found who to win. Citable built customer segments around what each group of buyers is trying to get done, from a bride planning around a date to a family shopping for a quinceañera. For each group, it reconstructed the questions they're likely to ask an AI assistant and tested them, to see where answers recommended Misshow and where they sent buyers elsewhere.

2. Ranked where to grow. Citable turned the gaps into a short list of projects that pair what Misshow already does well with where AI answers were missing it. The top find was a group Misshow wasn't serving yet: quinceañera shoppers, with demand that AI answers weren't meeting.

3. Briefed the content. Citable wrote a content brief for each priority group. Articles for those groups were published on Misshow's blog as a running program.

The results

ChatGPT went from a rounding error to a real sales channel. In Q3, Misshow's first quarter working with Citable, its ChatGPT-attributed revenue was more than 7x Q2's, and ChatGPT's share of its sales went from 0.8% to 6%. Both are counted in Misshow's own Shopify orders, not in impressions or mentions.

What other consumer brands can take from this

Start from the buyer, not the keyword. When you know which groups of buyers AI answers send elsewhere, and what each group needs to hear before it buys, every piece of content has a target. Measure it in your own orders, and you know which channel is selling.

FAQ

Why is ChatGPT recommending my competitors instead of my brand? In Misshow's case, Citable's tests showed AI answers sending some groups of buyers to other brands. One of them, quinceañera shoppers, was a group Misshow wasn't serving yet. The work started with finding those groups.

How do I know if ChatGPT is sending my store sales? Shopify reports ChatGPT as a referring channel. Misshow's figures here come from its own Shopify reports, using any-click attribution, so the sales figures are counted in orders, not impressions or mentions.

How long did it take to see results? Misshow worked with Citable from Q3 2026, and the figures above compare that quarter with Q2. That's one brand's timeline, not a benchmark.

What kind of brand is this for? Consumer brands whose customers research before they buy, where shoppers compare style, fit or delivery dates. Misshow's buyers are often planning around a date, such as a wedding or a quinceañera.
